Aparna Yadav Appointed Vice-Chairperson of UP Women’s Commission [Current Affairs]

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced new appointments to the state women’s commission. Babita Chauhan has been appointed as Chairperson, while Aparna Yadav and Charu Chaudhary have been designated as Vice-Chairpersons. The tenure for these positions is set for one year, or until further decisions by the UP government.

Aparna Yadav’s Role

Aparna Yadav, a BJP leader and the younger daughter-in-law of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, has been appointed as one of the Vice-Chairpersons of the UP Rajya Mahila Aayog. She is also the sister-in-law of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and is married to Prateek Yadav, who is Akhilesh Yadav’s step-brother. Aparna Yadav, who joined the BJP in January 2022 after an unsuccessful 2017 assembly election bid on an SP ticket, will serve alongside Charu Chaudhary as Vice-Chairpersons.

Governor’s Role

Governor Anandiben Patel has exercised her authority to make these appointments, with the official notification issued by Principal Secretary Leena Johri.
